These Are The Best MagSafe Grip Accessories You Can Buy!
Are you In the market for a new phone grip?
Smartphone grips and kickstands have been popular accessories for just about as long as smartphones have been around. With the advent of the Magsafe boom, these types of products have taken their functionality to another level. Here are some of the best magnetic kickstand grips you can buy on the market today.

PopSockets
The brand that started it all, PopSockets are still arguably the most versatile form factor for a Magsafe grip and kickstand hybrid. A round top piece can be pulled to extend out of a magnetic circular base. Imagine an accordion expansion and that’s exactly what it's like to pop open one of these. This can extend out in two stages. I’m not sure what would be beneficial for the most shallow pop out, but when it is fully expanded, you can easily slide a couple of fingers above and below the unit to grip the phone better.
It’s also possible to slightly tilt the socket so that it grabs onto a surface and can prop up the phone in a landscape orientation. This is not the most stable kickstand, but if you set it and don’t touch the screen with your finger, it should hold. Unfortunately, this doesn’t prop the phone up vertically as the law of physics doesn’t allow for this round form to reach the surface from its position.
You know what PopSockets are best suited for? It’s to play around as a fidget spinner. It's so smooth and satisfying to spin this when you’re bored. Joking aside, PopSockets are extremely comfortable to hold for endless doom scrolling. If you’re looking for something to use to help your grip, this is definitely a good option. That is if you’re willing to have a slight bulge in your pocket.
Torras Grip Holder
At its core, the Torras grip holder is a metal ring with a loop strap attached to it. A base ring has the magnetic connection that snaps onto a phone or phone case, while a second thinner ring pulls out to act as a rotatable kickstand. The ring itself is capable of rotating 360° and can fold in half of that field.
I found the ring to look cooler than it actually is beneficial to my everyday user experience as this is a surprisingly sizable clip on. Of all of my MagSafe kickstands, this one protrudes the most when attached to the back of a phone. The magnet is strong and I did find the propping positions to be superb here due to the rotating ring. You’re able to stand a phone up in nearly all angles feasible for both horizontal and vertical orientation. The only potential issue is the length of your phone and thus where the magnet is located on the body. The weight distribution of how far back you can rest the kickstand depends on how centered the weight can be balanced.
While the kickstand aspect is serviceable, the loop strap wasn’t very helpful for me in supporting the phone while holding it to browse. I could loop one of my fingers through for extra support while holding the phone with one hand, but as it is located on a revolving ring, the positioning of my support finger never feels comfortable. If you’re looking for something to help with grip, this one doesn’t pass the test.
Aulumu G05
I honestly did not think I would like the Aulumu G05 as much as I ended up liking it. It looks like something from a Cyberpunk future and it even has a secret function that can actually be useful. The laser printed text on the zinc alloy adds to that vibe. As a kickstand, the arm is stable and can flip in a 0° to 85° angle. It can also rotate in a 360° motion with an extremely satisfying clicking sound. It sounds as if I were winding up a clock timer. Realistically, if the phone is standing upright, there are only about 3 positions that can prop the phone reliably. In horizontal mode, you can only prop it at one angle.
I use my pinky and fourth finger to trap the kickstand arm together in order to hold the phone while browsing. This acts as a strap of sorts to hold onto the phone with more stability. It’s not ideal, but it kind of works for this purpose.
The most unique aspect of the G05 is the blade hidden in the kickstand. Yes, there is an actual blade that is housed inside this MagSafe accessory. A mini 3mm ceramic blade can be extracted when you push and hold a lever on the underside of the kickstand arm. When you let go of it, the blade auto-retracts back into place. This is useful to cut open packages and letter envelopes if you still get that in the mailbox.
All in all, this is one of my favorite Magsafe accessories available today.
Anker MagGo
The Anker magnetic phone grip (MagGo) has one of the most unique MagSafe accessory form factors I’ve seen so far. Like most accessories, the magnetic base is a round shape that clips onto the rear of a phone. Now instead of something that pops out or extends, Anker’s version provides a magnetic strap that can either be folded up or spread out flat. I’ll explain why the latter is useful, but the main function of this strap is to roll up into a loop in order to slide fingers through to have a grip. This works well enough as you do have to add a little bit of force with your fingers in order to break the form. While rolled up like this, the MagGo can be used as a kickstand for the phone in a horizontal position. It doesn’t support the phone in a vertical orientation as there isn’t enough length or density for the rolled up MagGo to prop a phone in that position.
What it can do that some other competitors can’t is act as a magnetic extension to a metal surface while still attached to the phone. To be precise, the MagGo is a dual-sided magnet accessory. That means you can mount this onto a pole or a refrigerator to function as a bit of a monitor holder for the phone’s display. You can have a recipe to mount on a fridge while cooking, or work out alongside a training video by having your phone mounted onto some equipment.
This one is a bit weird to slide in and out of a pant pocket as the MagGo in a coiled or uncoiled form has a odd and bulky shape. If you’re looking for a good loop band to grip your phone better, this is basically the only function that the Anker MagGo excels in.
Ohsnap 4 Luxe
Ohsnap is a brand that changed the game in this Magsafe kickstand genre. I’ve owned a Snap 3 Pro prior to getting this new one and while I found it to be cheap feeling and easily dismantled, I for many reasons kept going back to it as my main Magsafe accessory. The newest Ohsnap is the 4 Luxe and I assume the Luxe stands for luxury as this version comes with a brand new aluminum body base. The ring that pops out is still a cheap feeling piece of plastic, but it now magnetically clips back into place when it is near the base. The 4 Luxe is still ridiculously thin even with its new metal body. Mounted on the Pixel 8 Pro, the protrusion from this accessory is just about if not slightly higher than the camera bump.
The scissor expansion still relies on thin plastic that can easily be ripped through normal usage, but I do like sliding my middle finger through the loop for a clean grip across my phone. The new magnetic closure definitely helps make this feel a bit more reliable, but my biggest concern still lies with this plastic opening.
Ohsnap also still uses the little latch to prop the Luxe into a kickstand position where it locks the plastic into position. It may not look too sturdy as the phone is being held up by a thin piece of plastic, but it surprisingly stays in place as long as you don’t add significant force onto the display. For this compact form factor, the 4 Luxe cannot prop a phone up in vertical mode as it can only reach a surface when in landscape position.
Another cool thing an Ohsnap can do that a lot of other brands can’t is to wirelessly charge while still mounted on a phone. Yes, you don’t need to take the Ohsnap off when you plop the phone onto a charger. You can also mount the phone onto another magnetic platform like a fridge or car mount without removing the accessory. That’s awesome as that makes the accessory feel more like it's a part of the phone by default.
My absolute favorite thing about Ohsnap is just how non-intrusive it is attached to a phone. You don’t even know it's there sometimes. Being so thin and minimalist has its benefits as this is definitely the most comfortable add-on to slide in and out of my pocket.
