The iPad Mini went through a gigantic facelift the last time it got a refresh in 2021. Finally introducing a model with no home button and a USB-C port, the 6th-gen version was a step forward in modernizing the tiny device.

Here in 2024, Apple has updated the small tablet to the 7th-gen with a new CPU that has the power to handle Apple Intelligence.

Now powered by the A17 Pro processor, the iPad Mini is 30% better in the CPU category than the previous model. That along with a 25% boost in GPU will allow the Mini to harness Apple’s AI software in the near future.

Aside from the slight performance bump, the new Mini will also be compatible with the current version of the Apple Pencil Pro. These new iPads will come in a new purple and blue color and will start pricing at $499 when it opens for pre-orders right now for release on 10/23/24.
