Scout Motors to revive retro with future EV truck and SUV

Brand revivals are as American as America gets. We’re a country that kills off products that overstay their welcome, only to look back fondly with nostalgic glasses a few years later.

A new automotive company from the massive Volkswagen Group, Scout Motors Inc. is aiming to break back into the automotive industry with two very intriguing electric cars. The company is named after the International Scout, an off-road car that was sold for nearly two decades. after going out of business in the the early 1980's, VW has since acquired the trademark and spun Scout into an Electric focused subsidiary.

Flashforward now to October 2024 and the ambitious carmaker has taken the wraps off their two EV concepts: an SUV and a truck. With a specially designed EV platform that can use gas as an extender to recharge the battery, the Traveler SUV and Terra Truck will somewhat mirror Rivian and their R1T and R1S beginnings. Speaking of Rivian, while the Scout’s specs are far from a lock for the production models, their will be some Rivian traits behind the company’s products as Rivian and VW have a licensing deal.

VW says the pricing of the vehicles may start at under $60,000 when they begin production in 2027.
