Google gives kids a Fitbit with Ace LTE smartwatch
Keeping track of where kids are is a longstanding concern for worried parents. While smartwatches designed for children have been around for awhile, many of them feel and operate cheaply.
Fitbit thinks your kids should have the same quality on their wrist as parents do on theirs thanks to the new Ace LTE smartwatch. It looks like a Fitbit Sense on the outside, but is jam packed with "interactive fun" for the kids wearing it. Part gaming, part fitness, the Ace LTE uses built-in technology from their attachable bands to encourage kids to be physically active.
The watch offers LTE connectivity that will allow wearers to contact their parents through voice and text. It’s a limited contact list that can’t be abused by a child. Tap to pay access will also be available with this watch so parents can preload some money for lunch time.
The watch is a bit pricey for a children’s smartwatch, starting at $229.95 before data plans apply. That price also doesn’t include watch bands which are sold separately. However, it does look like it can endure the trials and tribulations of being on a child’s wrist.
