Nintendo Switch emulator Yuzu to shut down immediately

In a swift decision, Tropic Haze, the creators of the popular Nintendo Switch emulator Yuzu will cease development and distribution of the software and pay the Japanese gaming company $2.4 million in damages. The mutually agreed upon settlement comes merely days after the lawsuit was made public.

This now ends the life of Yuzu and the Nintendo 3DS emulator Citra as the developers are now barred from continuing work on code and development for any future work. After forming an LLC to partake in Patreon income, Tropic Haze made certain questionable decisions with the handling of their work. While emulation and ripping files of a game for personal management is not piracy, things get messy when money comes into play. Hopefully this is a lesson to be learned for the industry.
