CES 2024: TCL Goes Beyond With 115-Inch QD Mini LED TV
TCL had one of the most unique press events we’ve seen yet at CES Media Day 2024. Last year, the TV company said it wanted to focus on being bigger and better. They started the press conference by declaring that they’ve added another b-word to the agenda. This year it’s beyond. The brand announced a number of new products across its television lineup, mobile products, and home appliances. Here’s what’s beyond the to look forward to from the Chinese company.
New Television Technology
TCL has upgraded their Mini LED backlight technology to QD Mini LED and improved the enhanced QLED Color. According to the brand, this allows for a higher number of well-controlled dimming zones and vertical integration. TCL also announced three new levels of CPU processing: AIPQ (that is also included in the entry level S Class series), built-in Multi-Channel TV sound, Enhanced Dialog Mode, and a larger 115” screen.
In TCL’s S Class, the S5 has been added to the expanded television lineup and features 25% more brightness in addition to TCL’s new AIPQ processor.
Meanwhile, the Q Class has introduced the QM7 QD Mini LED model that includes the new Mini LED backlighting and processing. That joins the other sizes in the lineup to cover the field. TCL’s highest end model debuted as the flagship QM8, which will be available in the mega-size of 115”. TCL also announced that all upcoming new televisions will now include Dolby Atmos built directly into the television to further enhance the audio experience.
Upgraded Audio for Less
If you’re looking for even more of an audio boost, the company hasn’t forgotten about sound systems. As with their television naming schemes, the sound bar ecosystem is segregated into an S-Class and a Q-Class. The Q75H features a 5.1.2 sound bar and built-in side surround speakers. The Q85H is a 7.1.4 sound bar that includes wireless rear speakers. The new S-Class models are named S45H and S55H, both of which come with Dolby Atmos and Auto Room Calibration, which accounts for external noises in the user’s environment. The S55H version includes a Subwoofer with the purchase.
NXTPAPER and Mobile
As for the mobile phone segment, TCL re-affirmed their commitment to growing their mobile division in the US market. Utilizing an evolved paper-like display, NXTPAPER 3.0, the presser dedicated plenty of time highlighting its user-friendly display technology that’s easier on the eyes. The TCL NXTPAPER 14 Pro and TAB 10 NXTPAPER 5G tablets were announced on the bigger end of the size spectrum. The NXTPAPER 14 Pro is a 14”, 2.8K, 120 Hz, full-color electronic paper display that will come with 12GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage. Meanwhile, the smaller TAB 10 will be a compact tablet at 10.4” that is powered by Android 14 and comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It will contain a 6,000 mAh battery.
There’s also two phones being added to the lineup ever expanding lineup. The TCL 50 XL NXTPAPER 5G will have a 6.78” FHD+ display, 50 MP triple rear cameras, dual speakers with DTS sound, a 5,010 mAh battery. and 32 MP selfie camera. At only 60 grams, it features a transparent full-color MicroLED OLED display. Features include real-time translation, live navigation, built-in camera, and smart assistant capability. The RayNeo X2 Lite will be available for pre-order on Indiegogo in February.
