These may be the cheapest pair of earbuds we’ve ever featured on The Sypnotix yet! On sale for only $10 on Amazon, the Dudios Shuttle True Wireless Earbuds feature touch controls and an advertised 24 hours of play time. Despite the stigma of the low price tag, can these be your everyday driver earphones? Let’s take a look.
Out of the Box
The Dudios Shuttle True Wireless Earbuds offer a fairly clean and well packaged unboxing experience. In addition to the charging case and earbuds themselves, Dudios provides an additional two pairs of earbud tips of varying sizes and a lengthy micro USB to USB A charging cable. The oval shaped charging case features four small indicator lights in the front that display the battery life and when it is actively being charged.
At 10 grams, the earbuds are incredibly lightweight and although Dudios doesn’t advertise the weight of the carrying case, it is equally light and portable to carry around. Despite a clean black exterior color, the charging case and earbuds themselves feel very cheap. This is most likely due to the plastic build of both items. I don’t think they’d survive a major fall if they were to slip out of a purse or backpack.
That being said, the earbuds are surprisingly comfortable in my ear canal and on first impressions seem snug enough to wear throughout the day for Zoom calls or listening to music without feeling ear fatigue. Although they are advertised as IPX5 sweat proof, I wouldn’t necessarily wear them to work out or do heavy activities with simply because I have certain bud styles I prefer for those situations.
Functions
Pairing the Dudios earbuds with a device is quick and easy with Bluetooth 5.0. Simply pull both earbuds out of the charging cradle and they will instantly pair to your connected device. There’s also a number of touch controls users can access that are easy to remember. Double press the right earbud to play or pause music or press and hold each side of the earbud to skip or go to the previous track. There’s also call functionalities as well including double pressing the right earbud to answer or hangup a call, or pressing and holding to reject a call. You can also activate your phone’s voice assistant by double pressing the left earbud. As someone who has used a variety of earbuds in the past, I appreciate the simplicity of the controls that come with these. The biggest downside to the controls on the Dudios True Wireless Earbuds is the lack of volume control. You’ll still have to manually adjust this directly on the device you are paired to.
Battery
When it comes to battery life, the charging case features a 650 mAh battery. Dudios advertises 24 hours of play time and about four hours of talk time. The earbuds take approximately 1.5 hours to fully charge while the charging case takes about 2.5 hours. Note that you will need to charge the earbuds upon unboxing them before they can be used.
Sound Quality
I was pleasantly surprised with the sound quality these earbuds offered, especially considering the price point. While I wasn’t necessarily blown away by the sound, they were definitely better than expected. I listened to a variety of music with these and thought the mids were a little too overpowering in most scenarios yet still provided an enjoyable enough audio experience if you considered the price it took to obtain these. If you’re a fan of stronger bass or prefer more vocals, you may not enjoy these as much, but most earbuds don’t do well with those either at more expensive price points. However, for those of us that want an everyday pair of earbuds to use for music or phone calls and aren’t afraid of loosing them, I have no doubt the Dudios True Wireless Earbuds can do the job.
Overall Thoughts
I’m still blown away at the price point for these earphones. At the $30 MSRP, I would arguably say they should be passed up but if you apply that Amazon promotional code and snag them for $10, they’re a great deal. Buy a pair and relax. If they break they break. If you drop them, you drop them. If they get stolen, they get stolen. It’s only $10! It’s hard to argue against what the Dudios TWS provides for so little monetary value.
