Samsung announces Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6

Samsung has announced the 2024 iterations of their foldable flagship smartphones with the refreshed Galaxy Z Flip6 and Z Fold6. Both of these phones largely remain the same from a performance and design standpoint.

Th Z Fold6 will have a brighter display, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SOC, and the same 4,400 mAh battery that was on last year's model. All of this will be retained in a body that is slightly lighter than the Z Fold 5.

The other of Samsung’s foldable phones, the Z Flip6, will retain the exact same screen dimensions for both the cover and inner displays as last year’s model. The major change is in the screen type as Samsung has replaced the OLED display with an IPS LCD one on the Flip6. The battery is slightly larger this year with a bump up to the round number to 4,000 mAh, with the phone being powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

The Korean phone maker doesn’t see this as an incremental update as a majority of the 2024 phone’s gains are on the AI side. Both of these phones are powerful enough to utilize all of the Galaxy AI features that the company introduced earlier this year.

Pre-orders start today, July 10, with mass release scheduled starting July 24. The Z Fold6 starts at $1,899, while the Z Flip6 starts at $1,099.
